The run starts off with 2.75 road miles via hwy 5 > 201 > 341 to Matney Knob Trailhead (aid station #1). Beginning of the Ozark Highlands Trail (OHT) (White Blazes).
Follow OHT 1.5 miles to Tower Road and take a right to the top. Runners will need to grab a rubber Ozark Highlands Trail bracelet to prove they made it to the top. The bracelet will also score you some tasty soup and craft beer at the finish.
Runners then turn-around and run back down Tower Road ½ mile and turn right back onto the OHT. Continue down the mountain to your first crossing of Push Mountain Road. After crossing Push Mountain Road and going .10 miles you will turn right on the Matney Camp Trail (Orange Blazes). Follow Matney Camp Trail for 1.0 miles to the turn-around (aid station #2) mile 6.5.
MATNEY CHALLENGE RUNNERS WILL RETRACE THERE WAY BACK TO THE FINISH. YOU WILL NOT GO BACK UP TO THE TOWER.
OHER 34 milers will proceed back up out of Matney Camp 1 mile and turn right instead of heading back to the finish. Follow the OHT 6.0 miles to aid station #3 (Twin Creek Road).
Continue for 1 mile to your third crossing of Push Mountain Road. From here the trail starts a long climb and makes it’s way towards Brushy Creek Trailhead 4.4 miles (aid station #4).
